Dig those boys' wonderful toys! Here are a few of the gizmos and gadgets that Sam and Dean use in the course of their jobs.

The EMF reader is perhaps one of the boys' most-seen widgets. There are at least two versions: the home made converted Walkman that Dean was so proud of (see first image). and the "professional" one we see through most of the series. And of course one picture of the EMF and the Infared Thermo-scanner together.

The what? The Infared Thermo-scanner. This reads fluxuations in air temperatures, most notably cold and hot spots - cold of course being sign of spirits and ghosts. Presumably these can't be built from old electronic toys, but must be bought from someone who actually knows how to make 'em. ;-)

Hand-held mini camcorder: something no ghost hunter would be without. As we know, cameras have a knack for picking up things the human eye cannot perceive.

Everybody knows papa John kept a hunter's journal, but do the Brothers Winchester have journals of their own? Well, see for yourself. Here is a small blank book apparently used by both Dean and Sam in the course of their investigations. Whether or not they do the sort of copious note-keeping their father did is unknown, but it does appear they jot down at least the occasional pieces of information.

This, gentle readers, is not a journal. This is simply a leather-bound folder that holds a legal sized notepad, and it also has a handy pocket on one side in which one can stuff loose pieces of paper. It's the sort of thing a pre-law student could be expected to own, so maybe Sam is responsible for this item's appearance in the show.

A blacklight - handy when used to detect clues the naked eye can't see, such as blood, semen, or other stains that have been cleaned up, but leave residue that may fluoresce when exposed to ultra-violet light.

Sam's lock pick. What amuses me terribly is that he even has a nice little soft case to keep the thing in, as if it were a pair of glasses. Oh, Sam, you harmless young man, you ...

Last but not least - the Holy Water. The Celtic motif on the flask makes my little part-Irish heart very happy. :-)
